Celebrate Your Relationship This Valentine’s Day

December 12th, 2009 by dee

Happy Valentines DayWhen you have been in a relationship for a long time, you tend to put off some of the things you used to enjoy, such as celebrating intimacy and romance. Although Valentine’s Day is one of the days that gives you the chance to come closer together as a couple, it can be tough to break out of the grind and relax long enough to enjoy it. This is one of the reasons that Valentine’s Day gifts are so important. They let you express your feelings for your loved one, which will help you remember how much you care about each other.

I can remember many times when I was stressed out or having difficulties in my relationship, but holidays like Valentine’s Day always brought a smile to my face. Sure, you can keep things simple with flowers and a card, but there are also ways you can go the extra mile and make your partner blush with joy.

You can try renewing your vows, or getting on your knees and re-enacting your proposal. Why not make flowers by hand and create something that will last longer than a few days? There are many designs that you can find online to help you do just that.

Instead of buying a typical, yet boring, Valentine’s Day card, why not write your own Valentine’s poem or even a song? Get out your guitar and sing your heart out – it doesn’t matter if you can’t sing. Your partner will love you for it.

You could also try taking the day off and cook an elaborate meal for your husband or wife. Surprise them by having dinner ready when he or she get home from work. Light some candles and set the tone for romance. You could also try going for a picnic and enjoying some time in the sun.

Feeling a little frisky? Why not rent a hotel for the evening and spend some time showing your love for each other. There are plenty of honeymoon style resorts that specialize in occasions like these.

If you don’t have a lot of money to spend, you can still have a great Valentine’s Day with your loved one. Get some construction paper and make your own card. Take some of your pictures and create a slideshow or video to share. Get that romantic music playing and go dancing in your living room or bedroom. You can even give each other a sensual massage. There are so many ways that you can celebrate without spending money that you don’t have to worry about not having enough money to enjoy yourselves.

Valentine’s Day is a way to celebrate where your relationship has been, where it is now, and where you see it going in the future. The key is to make sure you take the time to show your love and slow down to enjoy it. There are 365 days in a year, so why not spend one devoted to just you and your husband, wife, boyfriend, or girlfriend. There will be 364 more for you.
