Mel Gibson has already been fifty three years old and the image is quite different from his early year`s works such as “Brave Heart” and “Lethal Weapon” series. However, as a strength factional superstar of Hollywood and his first appearance in seven years starring “Edge of Darkness”, Mel Gibson still owns ample box office appealing. At present, the film manufacturer has released preview and a few stills.
“Edge of Darkness” adapts from a short TV play which made by BBC in 1985.Mel Gibson plays an honest police officer in the film. after his radical daughter is murdered, he begins to investigate the background of official corruption. As Gibson himself is a fan of that TV show, he took the initiative to scramble the role and made it.
“Edge of Darkness”, which includes the director of “Casino Royale” and “The Golden Eye” Martin Campbell, is screened by Gibson`s own financing. What is more, Campbell also takes the role of producer and director in this film. The movie`s script is written by William Monaghan who won award for Best Adapted Screenplay by “The Departed” the previous year.
Thanks to “Brave Heart”, Mel Gibson won Best Director and Best Motion Picture.Since starred in “Signs” and “We Were Soldiers” from 2002, he has been developing successfully as a director all these years. He caused an earthquake as a director among critics owing to his “The Passion of the Christ” and “Apocalypto” in 2004.
In view of the drink-driving incident two years ago, former screen idol Gibson was once intended to stay behind the curtain. But as an actor, he can not bear the life without acting anymore and took over the film last year.”Edge of Darkness” will be shown publicly in North America on January 29th, 2010.
